One of the services Beyond The Fork In The Road offers our clients is a customized floor plan. Space in the new location is assessed, as well as any limitations determined by the community. We will measure your new home and create a magnetic floor plan of the layout. We’ll make notes on the location of cable, phone, electric and switches. We’ll measure the furniture in your current home that you plan to take with you when you move. Then we’ll meet with you to discuss your new floor plan and we’ll provide you with all the magnetic furniture in position, so you have the ability to move your furniture and visualize your new living space prior to making final decisions about what to relocate to your new home. 

Planning your new home’s layout provides you with peace of mind as the big day approaches. You’ll know how your new closets compare in size to your old closets. You’ll be able to see just how much space your couch will take up in your new living room and you’ll know where your cable hookup is for your television. You’ll even be able to see if one or two nightstands will fit around your bed. A floor plan helps you to make decisions on what furniture you will keep, what you will want to part with, and what new furniture you may want to purchase, so you have the perfect fit. 

Once you’ve decided what furniture is moving to your new home, we’ll tag each piece on packing day with color-coded ribbons that match the colors we’ve tagged on your floor plan. Then on moving day, the movers can quickly locate where your furniture is to be placed in your new home. 

A well thought out floor plan also reduces your stress on moving day, as our unpacking team and movers refer to your floor plan and take action, rather than asking you where each piece belongs as it comes into the home. Of course, you’ll be there to supervise the move and you will be able to have the movers position your bed or couch in just the right spot within the room. 

Once your furniture is placed where it belongs in your new home, we’ll dust the furniture, clean the glass and mirrors and remove the tags.
